Phillies drop final game against the Pirates, another bad start for Myers

The Phillies dropped the final game of the series against the Pirates 5-1, another lack luster performance from starter Myers.Myers velocity is down and he continues to be hurt by the long ball. At this point he certainly isn’t pitching like an ace, more like the 5th starter. His fastball is topping out at 89 where it should be closer to 95. Hopefully his strength will return soon, the Phillies need him to be solid if they hope to make the playoffs again.

Paul Maholm shut down the Phillies with only 2 hits. He pitched a magnificent game and looked like a real ace.

The Phillies had been playing well winning 6 of their last 7 games and appeared to be taking off with the exception of Howard. I feel Howard will come out of it very soon and then we will see the Phil’s take off!
