Phillies drop final game to Arizona 8-3 as Myers struggles continue
Brett Myers struggled in Thursday’s series finale against the Diamondbacks, allowing six runs, five earned, over five innings.Myers record is now 2-3, and his ERA is up to 5.33. He has allowed the most home runs in the majors and just doesn’t look comfortable as a starter again. I personally believe it is all in his head. He has to get in the correct mindset again if he hopes to be a good starter, let alone the Phillies ace.
Diamondbacks ace Brandon Webb, who became the first pitcher in three years to win his first eight starts and pitched his 13th career complete game.
The good news is Jimmy Rollins will rejoin the Phillies on Friday in San Francisco after missing a month with a sprained left ankle. Hopefully this will get the Phillies batters more consistent and get Howard going, who is off to one of the worse starts I can remember from a player with his capabilities. With Howard, I believe it’s mental too. He looks very unsure at the plate, bailing out and striking out at an unbelievable rate.
