Werth blasts Phillies to 10-3 victory over Jays
Jason Werth hit three home runs and tied a Phillies record with Eight RBIs and lead the Phillies to a 10-3 win over the Jays.Werth opened his night with a 3 run homer. Then followed with a grand slam and ended his unbelievable night with a solo homer. His 8 RBIs tied a Phillies record, it’s a five-way tie for the franchise best with Kitty Bransfield, Gavvy Cravath, Willie “Puddin’ Head” Jones and Mike Schmidt. Werth also had a shot a tying the major league record with 4 homers in a row but popped up his final at bat. He later admitted he was trying to hit a homer and when you try it never works, he admitted.
Moyer gave the Phillies a solid 6 2/3 innings to get the win and the bullpen game in and did a good job to end the game.
